Pretenses
I grew up in Richmond, Virginia. I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2000 and from Princeton in 2003. I was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church in 2007. I have served as a pastor of churches in New Jersey and Virginia as well as a prison and hospital chaplain. Presently, I am the associate pastor at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
I met my wife, Ali, in high school in Richmond Virginia. Today she is a very professional lawyer in Bethesda.
My youngest son, Gabriel, is the funniest guy in the world. He loves swimming and the White Stripes.
My oldest son, Alexander, is a hardcore hiker and recently went through puberty at the age of 9.
I enjoy cooking, traveling, writing and running. I’m also learning (slowly, very slowly) to play the banjo.
But all that may not say as much about me as:
Favorite Bands: Blitzen Trapper, The Black Keys and The Low Anthem
Favorite Movies: Chinatown, The Big Lebowski, Pan’s Labyrinth
Favorite TV Show: The Killing and Battlestar Galactica
Favorite Authors: Cormac McCarthy, Thomas Lynch, Richard Ford
Favorite Smell: Roast Chicken
Favorite Theologian: Karl Barth, St Augustine
If I wasn’t a pastor I’d be a….chef.
I have: a beautiful wife, 2 wonderful sons and 2 crazy Australian Shepherds.
